South West Review

The Law Society South West Review is out

The review includes information on the main legal news arising from the Law Society and elsewhere, and also planned events in the South West.  In addition the Law Society has recently held two successful events in Bristol:

-          Equality and Diversity Group which BLS kindly promoted.  This highlighted best practice in encouraging and supporting diverse workforces, as well as the Equality and Diversity regulatory requirements in the SRA’s new Handbook (Principle 9).

-          Judicial Appointments Outreach Event held at UWE, and at which Jude Ellery ably spoke and provided a very useful insight into the process involved in applying for a judicial position as well as the implications involved for a practising solicitor.

Over the coming months the Law Society will also be exploring how to update members on the SRA’s regulatory requirements, particularly as firms will need to have identified their new Compliance Officer for Legal Practice (COLP) by March 2012.  Compliance and Lexcel promotional events look likely.
