Bristol+Bath LegalTech Meetup#1 – 25th June 2019

Come and join the LegalTech revolution! Right here, in the UK’s most dynamic city region for both digital industries and the fast-changing legal services sector. This month we are launching a new community to help take Bristol + Bath’s LegalTech ecosystem to the next level, and to support the growth of a world-beating center of excellence for this intersection of smart new technologies with the best legal advice and access to justice.

A team of enthusiasts from Bristol Law Society, University of the West of England, the West of England Combined Authority and a cluster of the region’s leading law firms and consultancies have worked over recent months to develop a plan for a series of LegalTech initiatives. We are inviting you to the first Meetup in June so that you can hear more about this, and mingle with both tech and legal professionals.

Who should join us? There’s no qualification or expectation other than being interested in or curious about this intersection of new technologies and law. We will have people who have worked in legal technology inside law firms and software companies, lawyers (some of whom know plenty about LegalTech and some who don’t), students, techies who are intrigued by the potential of this emerging area, and people working in public services including the justice system or non-governmental organisations and charities. We aim to bring together a truly diverse range of people around this topic and to cater equally for those with a deep knowledge and involvement in LegalTech and those who want to find out about it, or get involved.

The Meetups will become a regular fixture on Bristol + Bath’s event calendar. They will be informative – with short presentations from people with something important or interesting to say about LegalTech, and plenty of knowledge sharing – but the emphasis is on informal opportunities to connect and build relationships. Drinks and food may feature and we aim to move around, introducing members to some fantastic, not always well-known venues.

Meetup #1 takes place on Tuesday 25th June from 1730 until 1930. Massive thanks to top law firm Simmons & Simmons opening its brand new Skyline suite and outdoor terrace for this event – probably the perfect venue for our first Summer Meetup. You can find us at Aurora, Finzels Reach, Counterslip, Bristol BS1 6BX

We do have an upper limit of places, so please do register and grab your place ASAP.

Looking forward to seeing you there,

Chris Bull, Kingsmead Square and Dagmar Steffens, UWE (Co-chairs)
