Independent and Co-opted Governor Opportunities
UWE Bristol is an ambitious university. Together, our people are working hard to advance knowledge, inspire people and transform futures.
We are a high-performing university, with over 30,000 students, 280,000 alumni and 4,000 staff. UWE Bristol is one of the largest providers of Higher Education in the South West. We are globally connected and regionally embedded, with strong connections with employers, community organisations, schools and colleges. Students come to study with us from all over the UK, as well as from 140 different countries, making this a diverse and interesting place to study. We achieved 88% student satisfaction in the 2019 NSS; this excellent result places us in the top 10 of universities for student satisfaction in the UK. UWE Bristol prides itself on the positive difference it makes to people’s lives and we are seeking individuals who share our passion for the benefits of higher education and who can help us strengthen our connections with business and communities so we can continue to thrive and succeed in an increasingly global market.
We have opportunities for two inspirational and strategic individuals to serve on the Board of Governors: one as an Independent Member and one as a Co-opted Member. For the Independent Member role,
we would be particularly keen to hear from you if you have an outstanding record of leadership and achievement in a mix of the following areas: real estate development projects, property finance, planning law and regulation, as well as general commercial contracts.
For the Co-opted Member role, we are seeking someone who is a senior commercial lawyer with business acumen, sound judgement and proven experience in a senior leadership role. We are looking for someone with recent senior board experience, legal compliance and governance.
Experience of the higher education sector is desirable.
If you think you have the experience, time and energy, and are interested in helping us deliver our ambitious strategy, please email the Deputy Clerk, Christine Gledhill email@example.com for details on how to apply and for further information.
We are an inclusive and diverse university and we welcome people from all backgrounds.
