Annual Child Law Conference to be hosted by the Albion Chambers Family Team.
This year’s conference will take place on Friday, 28th September 2012. Registration will be at 8.45am and the seminar is scheduled to conclude at approximately 4:30pm.
The speakers from our team will include Claire Wills-Goldingham QC and Stuart Fuller.
Members of the Albion Team will be joined at this year’s conference by various guest speakers:
District Judge Nicholas Crichton CBE. He is the Senior District Judge at the Inner London and Family Proceedings Court, and has presided over the Family Drug and Alcohol Court which was pioneered from that court centre.
Dr Brenda Moore is a Consultant Psychiatrist with extensive medico-legal experience and has particular expertise in cases involving survivors of childhood abuse. She will present a talk with Claire Wills-Goldingham QC that will examine psychiatric issues in children proceedings.
Dr Mike Drayton, Consultant Psychologist. Based in Birmingham, he is frequently instructed in children cases and will present a talk about the use of psychological techniques in “spotting the liar”.
Sue Lee, Children’s Guardian and independent social worker. She is an independent Reviewing Officer and Child Protections Chair, and Independent Assessor. Her talk will discuss why professionals and courts take so long to protect children who are victims of neglect.
The conference will also provide an update of some important recent cases. The event will be held at The Thistle Grand Hotel, Broad Street, Bristol, BS1 2EL.
