Bristol+BathLegalTech Meet-ups are back! 23rd Nov from 5.30pm!

Bristol+BathLegalTech is back In Real Life: make a date to join us in Bristol on 23rd November 2022

The West of England’s dynamic legaltech community was heralded as being nationally and internationally significant in a recent report, which also identified over 850 legal technology and innovation roles that were based in the region.  One of the most successful planks in that growing community has been the existence of Bristol+BathLegalTech (BBLT) as an group that pulls together law firms, tech companies, innovators and key institutions such as the West of England Combined Authority (WECA) and Bristol Law Society.  And one of the most important components of that success was the regular in-person (and then online) Meet-Ups BBLT hosted.

In November 2022 we are delighted to announce that those ‘in real life’ Meet-Ups are back.  Join us at Osborne Clarke’s offices at 2 Temple Back East for an evening of insight, inspiration and interaction with like-minded folks from every corner of the extended legal technology and innovation spectrum.  As ever, we favour short, snappy nuggets of information and ideas from a range of presenters and plenty of time to debate, discuss and just network.

The Line-Up

  • That said we do have some great inputs lined up for the relaunched Meet-Up, led by a genuine UK legaltech pioneer, Graeme Johnston.  As well as his own legaltech company, Juralio, Graeme founded and leads noslegal in 2020 to tackle one of the fundamentals required for the industry to deliver better search, financial reporting, legal project management, AI and process improvement: simple ways to describe legal work (aka taxonomies).  Noslegal (for more info – www.noslegal.org) is a voluntary, not-for-profit organisation committed to an open source ethos, with many leading UK and global law firms involved, alongside a number of leading legal tech companies and close connections with parallel organisations around the world.  They published our first taxonomy materials in March this year – github.com/noslegal/taxonomy with the next round of work currently under way.  With some BBLT regulars already involved in the noslegal project, Graeme and Osborne Clarke’s Dan Wright are keen to extend that involvement to many more members of our group.
  • We will also hear from the leaders of the Bristol Early Careers Network, formed by a cluster of the region’s largest law firms, about the inspiring work they are doing connecting the legal sector up with schools and colleges and supporting greater diversity and inclusion – and about how the world of legaltech and legal innovation can engage: already one of BBLT’s primary objectives for 2023.
  • And Chris Bull and Dagmar Steffens, our BBLT co-chairs, will give everyone a quick shot of regional legaltech news and outline the initiatives that are in prospect for the next year or two.

But…don’t forget this is a first and foremost a Meet-Up event – refreshments provided – and it is a great chance to come along, reconnect with old friends and meet some like-minded new ones.  We’re expecting it to be busy so do register ASAP.
