Over three days this April a brand new legaltech and innovation festival in the Bristol city region will be exploring and celebrating the game-changing impact of technology on the practice and business of law.

Located at the heart of one of the largest and most dynamic legaltech clusters, the West of England welcomes participants, speakers, academics and industry leaders from across the region, the country and beyond.  The WE R LegalTech (a tag which refers back to our roots in the West ofEngland Region LegalTech community) 2024 Festival runs 16th to 18th April 2024 and features a diverse and unique programme of events across multiple great venues in the region.  Created and curated by Bristol+BathLegalTech (BBLT), the festival is the latest and by far the biggest in a string of events and activities the group has been running since 2018.  You can keep an eye on announced speakers here Confirmed speakers so far include: British Legal Technology Awards Lifetime Achievement Winner Sarah Green / Californian futurist and legal market seer Eric Hunter / author of 'The Ditch the Billable Hour' Shaun Jardine / creator of 'The Legal Technologist' and 'LegalOpsCareers' Marc May / West of England Combined Authority Head of Strategic Innovation Dagmar Steffens (BBLT Co-Chair)  and a roster of innovators from legaltechs and law firms in our Showcase section and our other Co-Chair Chris Bull.

Our kick-off, anchor event of the festival is a one-day Conference on 16th April focused on examining the impact and implications of legaltech for the law, legal industry and wider society and economy.  We’ve called it ‘Right around the corner: how – and how fast – will legaltech change the legal world’.  The day’s programme will appeal to anyone with a passion for and interest in how the legal world is changing as a result of technological advances and the whole spectrum of implications we need to face up to as a result; law firm leaders, partners and senior lawyers, in-house lawyers, technologists and legal innovators in firms, entrepreneurs and legaltech start-ups, established tech companies, academics and more.  We believe that, amidst a slew of other legal technology events and posts, our programme’s focus and intent is unique.  Which is exactly how we like it!

Early Bird delegate ticket sales for the Conference open in February and in order to allow those sending multiple delegates a few more days to muster their people, we have extended this to 6pm on 19th March.  [The BBLT community and Bristol Law Society members get an exclusive opportunity to snap up tickets first, before we launch on social media].  Based on delegate numbers at our recent events, we expect tickets to sell very quickly so don’t delay.  The many other festival events, running on 17th and 18th April will be announced towards the end of February and many of them will be free to attend, although with limited capacity in some cases.

If you’re passionate about legaltech but not based here in the West of England, our arms are open wide to you too.  This could be your opportunity to spend a few days hanging out in Bristol and you’ll thank yourself (and us!) for that.  Regularly ranked in annual surveys as the best / coolest city to live in or visit (Sunday Times, Time Out, Rough Guide, Conde Nast, the list goes on…), Bristol matches the fun vibe with cutting-edge working creds.  The city region is rated as a top 20 European tech hub, a leading ‘Smart City’, a “deep tech powerhouse” (thanks WIRED magazine!) and the most significant UK digital and innovation centre outside London (McKinsey, European Commission, Paymentsense and more).

If you are interested in sponsorship packages you can find details here (some of which include tickets to the conference)
