LEGAL OMBUDSMAN CHANGES ADDRESS


All BLS members should note that LeO changed its postal address in February to PO Box 6806, Wolverhampton WV1 9WJ.

Why does this matter?  Because Outcome 1.10 of the SRA Code of Conduct 2011 says: “clients are informed in writing, both at the time of engagement and at the conclusion of your complaints procedure, of their right to complain to the Legal Ombudsman, the time frame for doing so and full details of how to contact the Legal Ombudsman”

So you need to change the reference to LeO’s postal address in your firm’s terms of business and web site to ensure clients’ right to complain about us is not inhibited.

Why is it remarkable?  Because of the complete lack of notice to the profession.  Staff at LeO say that plans are ”in hand” to notify the profession at some uncertain point in the future….
