Property Litigation Lawyer – Cobb Warren, Bristol

Work for a law firm that is a bit different. That has a flexible approach, a specialist focus, and great clients to work with.

Cobb Warren is a boutique firm with a niche practice area. Formed in 2020 by our 2 Partners, we provide dedicated advice and representation to social housing providers in the areas of Housing Management and Property Litigation.

Our partners had existing practices and followings in this area and joined forces for the mutual benefit of their clients. We aim, and are considered by our clients, to be an extension of their team. We provide a highly personalised service and give pragmatic and commercial advice.

The way we work also reflects our specialist focus and flexibility. We have a central base in Bristol but make great use of remote working to optimise our time for clients and to achieve a real work-life balance. There are times we have to go the extra mile for our clients in relation to when, where and how we work. However, this is balanced fairly with our ability to embrace flexible and agile working approaches.

We are offering the chance to work in an extremely interesting and varied position, the chance to become a true specialist and work in a firm that puts our clients at the centre of everything we do. We seek someone who matches our ethos, who is excited about helping us grow, and is as enthusiastic as we are about housing law.

For us, it is all about the person. We are looking for someone who is the right fit for our firm and for our clients. Is that you?

To find that perfect fit, we will consider a range of backgrounds and qualification levels.

Job description

Job title: Lawyer

Department/Section: Housing & Property Litigation

The Role
Cobb Warren is looking for a solicitor, legal executive, experienced paralegal or experienced housing professional to add to our existing team due to exciting growth in our firm.

You will be working alongside the partner-founders of the firm by assisting them with their caseloads and by undertaking your own case work.

You will be expected to provide a friendly and efficient service to our housing provider clients. This is an exciting role with exposure to varied and interesting work as well as frequent exposure to advocacy in the County Court.

You will also assist in the running of our office and be a fundamental and valued part of the team.

We work predominantly for housing providers and aim to be an extension of our clients’ teams. We are looking for someone who fits our clients’ ethos as well as our own.

The role is ideally for someone in the Bristol/Bath/North Somerset area (although other areas may be considered) and can be a mix of home/office working. Part-time applicants will be considered.

Key tasks:

  1. Case work such as interviewing witnesses, drafting witness statements, statements of case and injunction applications.
  2. Running a housing litigation caseload (such as anti-social behaviour and housing condition claims) and assisting the partners with their caseloads
  3. Conducting advocacy in the County Court on your own cases and assisting on other lawyers’ cases where cover is required.
  4. Assisting the team with the running of the office when required.

We are flexible in relation to qualifications required; the main objective is for you to be a good fit for our team and for our clients.

Legal experience is necessary, and it is highly desirable for us to find someone who has experience of litigation and advocacy in the County Court.

Experience of housing condition or property damage claims is also highly desirable.

Knowledge and experience of the social housing sector is also desirable.

To apply applicants should send their CV and a short covering letter to me:
