Fee-Paid Judge of the First-tier Tribunal
The Judicial Appointments Commission is currently accepting applications for the role of Fee-paid Judge of the First-tier Tribunal, Social Entitlement Chamber and Health, Education and Social Care Chamber. Applications will close at 1pm on 4 November 2025.
A Fee-paid Judge will generally sit on a panel with one or two medical or other specialist members and may sometimes be expected to sit alone. The Tribunals cover a wide range of often complex and substantial cases. Cases may be decided after an oral hearing or on consideration of the documentary evidence and submissions alone. A Fee-paid Judge will determine cases by finding facts from the evidence and applying the relevant law to the facts found.
