BRISTOL – “A VERY FORWARD-LOOKING, INNOVATIVE AND COMPETITIVE LEGAL MARKET”

Following his recent visit to Bristol, Law Society John Wotton remarked on the excellence of Bristol as a legal centre, describing it as “a very forward-looking, innovative and competitive legal market”.

John Wotton spent an enjoyable day and a half visiting Bristol. He visited two firms that were new entrants to the Bristol market, one a London insurance practice which had spotted an opportunity to get closer to an important part of its client base by opening in Bristol, the other a corporate boutique focusing on the local SME market, which had grown to 11 partners in just one year from opening by using a “chambers” model of practice and outsourcing most services. Over lunch and dinner and in further meetings he spoke to around 20 partners in firms of all types and sizes in the City. John Wotton also visited Cooperative Legal Services outside Bristol to learn about their plans for operating as an SRA-regulated ABS, once their recent licence application is granted.

While in Bristol, the President also took the opportunity to visit Integreon, whose UK legal process outsourcing business is based there.
