Representation

Bristol Law Society is an active member of the Association of South Western Law Societies known as ASWLS (comprising Bristol, Cornwall, Devon & Somerset, Gloucester & Wiltshire, Monmouthshire, and Plymouth Law Societies) and the Joint V (comprising Birmingham, Bristol, Liverpool, Leeds and Manchester Law Societies). The Officers of BLS meet on a regular basis with their ASWLS and Joint V counterparts allowing the societies to share best practice, common concerns and act collaboratively and with a wider representative voice on matters of particular importance to the profession.

Effective communication channels are maintained with the national Law Society, the Solicitors’ Regulatory Authority, the judiciary, the Ministry of Justice, the local Bar, the local authorities, advice agencies, academic institutions, organisations from the voluntary sector, consumer bodies and other professional and commercial bodies.

We also work closely with the local groups of the Junior Lawyers’ Division, Women Lawyers Division and the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives.
