Bristol Family Law Solutions launch

  • Posted on

Bristol Family Law Solutions hosted their launch event on 28th January which was attended by around 40-50 people including local Designated Family Judge (DFJ) for Bristol, Judge Stephanie Cope, and the President and Vice President of Bristol Law Society.

The organisation has replaced the former Bristol Collaborative Law Pod and is made up of a group of professionals who work together to help separated or separating couples to resolve issues arising out of their separation. This may be to do with their financial arrangements or the arrangements for the children or a combination of both. It includes trained and qualified Collaborative Family Lawyers, Mediators, Arbitrators, Financial Consultants, Family Therapists, Counsellors, and Divorce Coaches.

The aim of the group members is to encourage clients going through a separation or divorce to resolve their issues out of court and by agreement, with professional support, where possible and to spread the word among the population as a whole that this is the best approach.

Family Partner at Barcan+Kirby, Chris Miller, who has been involved in the Bristol Family Law Solutions since before the launch commented:

“I attended the official launch of Bristol Family Law Solutions with my colleagues, Tom Powles and Gareth Hughes. By working together with professionals who are committed to this approach, we can help couples to minimise the areas of dispute and to focus on the relevant issues with a view to achieving an outcome that is best for the family as a whole, particularly where there are young children involved, maintaining some dignity and control over the outcome rather than delegating the final decisions to a Judge or a court who may know little about the family background and the issues which are important to them.”
