Emergency First Aid and Mental Health First Aid Courses

Weston College have some heavily funded courses coming up in Emergency First Aid and Mental Health First Aid, designed to help employers and their teams feel confident, prepared, and equipped to respond effectively to a wide range of crisis situations.

Level 2 (Award) - Introduction to First Aid for Mental Health

With a significant increase in mental health challenges among employees in the workplace, it is vital that workplaces are knowledgeable on how to respond and react to a mental health crisis.

This Level 2 award is delivered over 1.5 days midweek, and the qualification supports the understanding of principles of first aid for mental health, and supports the role of mental health first aiders in the workplace.

This course will cover topics such as:

  • Understand mental health and wellbeing and the mental health continuum

  • Understand how mental illness affects the experience of individuals and ways to manage one’s own wellbeing

  • Understand the principles of first aid for mental health and how to recognise mental ill health

  • Supporting mental wellbeing in the workplace and shape cultures in the workplace

  • Understand the importance of mental resilience and protection of self for first aiders for mental health

Date: Tuesday 17th and Wednesday 18th of March 2026

Location: Construction Training Centre, Locking Head Drove, Weston-super-Mare, BS24 7NA.

Those earning under £25,000 per annum will receive this training fully funded. Those earning above £25,000 will be 50% funded with employers contributing £52.92 per person.

Level 3 (Award) - Emergency First Aid at Work

Emergency first aid saves lives - being prepared can make all the difference in a crisis.

Throughout this course, you will learn both theoretical and practical skills in administering Emergency First Aid with particular emphasis on practical skills and application.

This training will include:

  • The roles and responsibilities of the first aider

  • Assessing an emergency situation safely

  • Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and automated external defibrillator (AED)

  • Administering first aid to a choking casualty

  • Bleeding, wound care, and tourniquet application

  • Dealing with shock, burns, scalds, bleeds and minor injuries

Date: Tuesday 10th March 2026 (there will also be a course running on the 30th of June 2026 if you cannot attend the March date)

Cost: £85 per person
