LawCare supported more people in 2025 than during the pandemic

LawCare, the mental health charity for the legal sector, has published its Impact Report 2025, showing that demand for support is higher than ever, exceeding levels seen during the Covid-19 pandemic.

  • In 2025, LawCare supported 753 people, more than in any previous year.
  • 140 people were supported through LawCare’s live online chat in 2025, a 13% increase in one year, highlighting the importance of offering different ways to access support alongside the charity’s helpline and email services.
The report shows that, despite increased awareness of mental health and wellbeing and more workplace wellbeing initiatives, people in the legal sector continue to struggle with stress, anxiety, burnout, and ongoing work pressures.

The Impact Report 2025 reinforces the findings from Life in the Law 2025, LawCare’s research into mental health and wellbeing in the legal sector, which provides further evidence of the scale and persistence of these challenges. Together, the reports highlight the importance of continued, targeted support for individuals, as well as the need for organisations to take a more proactive and meaningful approach to mental health at work.

Elizabeth Rimmer, CEO of LawCare says:

“Our Impact Report 2025 shows that rising awareness alone isn’t enough. People in the legal sector are still under significant pressure, and the need for immediate and confidential mental health support continues to grow. LawCare delivers this work with a small team and limited resources. Sustaining and growing our services to meet this increased demand is a key priority.”
