National Junior Lawyers Division- SQE Survey report

Throughout 2025, the NJLD launched a comprehensive survey of current and former SQE candidates. An invitation to complete the survey was published on social media and received 476 complete responses across approximately seven weeks. The survey questions spanned a broad remit, covering preparatory courses, assessment experience, cost and funding, qualifying work experience (QWE), employer support, mental health and wellbeing, and overall confidence in the examination system. To our knowledge, the findings set out in this report represent one of the largest independent surveys of SQE candidates to date.

Three things to say about my experience of working with Bristol Law Society. Their central team, council members and general hangers-on are just about the nicest, most generous group of people working in the legal sector today. The numerous events, awards, socials and conferences I’ve had the pleasure to attend over the years have been, without exception, top quality and supremely organised.
