Obituary of William John ‘Jack’ Lyes, Past President 1980/81

It is with sadness that we advise that Jack Lyes died at home on 8 August.

Mr Lyes was a partner at Lawrence Tucketts (now TLT).  He was the 2nd PR Officer of Bristol Law Society, which resulted in taking part in a weekly radio show on BBC Radio Bristol helping consumers.  He was also the first legally qualified person to sit as Chairman on the Social Security Appeal Tribunal.  After retirement, Mr Lyes could often be found searching through the archives in the Law Library on Small Street for research on the Bristol Legal Market for historical articles many of which can be found on our wesbite.

His funeral will be held on Tuesday 12 September at 11.30am, arrival from 11.00am, at Bristol Memorial Woodlands, Earthcott Green, Nr Thornbury, Bristol, BS35 3TA.

If you think you will be able to attend, please email Clair at info@bristollawsociety.com who will let the family know.  If you have any thoughts or stories that you wish to share with the family, again please send these to Clair and she will pass on.
