BLS Treasurer Rupert Scrase is a busy man. Not only does he look after the money at Bristol Law Society, but he runs his own specialist firm, Scrase Employment Solicitors, and now as a further string to his bow, Rupert has become vice-chair of the Solicitors Sole Practitioner Group

The SPG represents the interest of their members within the Law Society and to other bodies, such as the SRA, and to ensure that decisions taken do not compromise or adversely affect Sole Practitioners. SPG also responds to consultations issued by the SRA and other bodies and in this way the expertise and experience of members can help to provide a broader and more informed view.

The SPG also aims is to support members through local groups organising, training, conferences and communicating through other means.

The SPG's 2013 Conference is to be held in Paris and further details can be found here

The conference attracts 8 CPD points and is open to SPs and 2-4 partner firms. Information is also at http://www.spg.uk.com/conference/
