We are looking for two experienced Private Client Lawyers to join the team, one at the Gloucester Road office in Bishopston and one in Bedminster. The roles will cover Estate Administration, Trusts and later life client work, including Wills, Tax Planning and Lasting Powers of Attorney.

The role

The roles offers lots of variety, but specifically, you can expect to be involved in:

• All aspects of private client work, including Probate, Estate Administration, Wills, Tax and Estate Planning, LPAs and Trusts (both creation and administration).
• Providing technical advice and support for the team.
• Keeping up to date with any changes in the law.
• Updating training for all fee earners.
• Conducting client matters in an appropriate and efficient manner.
• Taking and recording clear instructions.
• Giving expert advice tailored to each client’s needs.
• The management and supervision of support services, including departmental Secretaries and Paralegals.
• Participation in marketing and business development activities, whether on a firm-wide, departmental or office basis.
• Financial control with particular regard to cash flow control through accurate time-recording, collection of monies on account and billing procedures.
• Complying with CPD requirements and identifying specific training needs.
• Ensuring compliance with SAR, SRA Code of Conduct and Lexcel rules and requirements for all matters for which you have conduct and promptly advising the Head of Department of any concerns.
• Sharing knowledge and ideas with your colleagues in the department and firm-wide, as appropriate.

The ideal candidate

• Qualified Solicitor with three years+ PQE or a FCILEx, ideally with practice rights for probate reserved/regulated activities, with experience in Wills, LPAs, Trusts and Estate and Trust Administration.
• Experience in Trust work and extensive knowledge of applicable taxes (including but not limited to IHT, CGT and Income Tax).

A STEP qualification, or willingness to study for it, would be desirable, and experience in managing a team would be advantageous.

Location and working hours

• Full-time (office hours are 9am – 5.15pm, Monday to Friday)
• Part-time considered (minimum of three days)
• The roles are based at our Gloucester Road office in Bishopston and / or Bedminster, but with the option to apply for hybrid working upon successful completion of your probation.
