Bristol Family Legal Advice Scheme

In conjunction with Advocate (Advocate: Finding free legal help from barristers) the University of Law in Bristol offers free advice clinics for litigants in person within the family courts for the following cases:

Family Law Act 1996
Private Law Children

As part of the clinic, trained University of Law students conduct telephone interviews with clients and then Clients are offered 40-minute appointments with a specialist family barrister within the Civil Justice Centre building (or occasionally on Teams).

Appointments are only available for litigants who cannot afford legal advice. Please note, Advocate reserves the right to ask for proof of financial eligibility.

Their central team, council members and general hangers-on are just about the nicest, most generous group of people working in the legal sector today.
