Roger was nominated for his technical expertise in forensic accounting and his exceptional leadership during one of the most high-profile financial injustice cases in recent UK history.
In 2022, Roger was first approached by solicitors acting for a small group of victims of the Post Office Horizon Scandal. They needed a forensic accountant to quantify pecuniary losses in support of malicious prosecution claims.
His work exceeded expectations, and within a year, he had built and was leading a team of twenty forensic analysts representing over 500 former subpostmasters and subpostmistresses.
Under his guidance, the team has helped secure millions of pounds in compensation for victims, often in the face of bureaucratic delays and inconsistent handling of claims.
Roger shared his appreciation for the nomination: “This recognition is really a reflection of the extraordinary team I’ve had the privilege to work with, both within Milsted Langdon and alongside the dedicated solicitors instructing us.
“Being able to play a part in helping so many people achieve justice has been one of the most rewarding achievements of my career.”
Roger used this high-profile project as a development platform for emerging talent. He gave two junior colleagues the opportunity to co-lead the project, coaching them intensively as they stepped into their first management roles.
“I’m especially proud to see how our younger colleagues have risen to the challenge and grown through the experience.”
Winners of the Accounting Excellence Awards will be announced at a ceremony at The Roundhouse in London later this year.
