TLT’s Joint Head of Government and Public Services, and former Senior Partner, at national law firm TLT, Andrew Glynn is set to retire at the end of March after over 40 years of service.

Andrew Glynn – receiver of the Law Society’s Outstanding Achievement Award in 2023 - qualified as a solicitor with legacy firm Lawrence Tucketts in 1985 and then worked in London for seven years, principally with City practice Rowe and Maw (now Mayer Brown). He returned to TLT in 1992, became partner in 1994, was head of the firm’s real estate team from 1999-2015, before being appointed joint- head of the government and public services team.

Andrew became TLT’s Senior Partner in 2016, demonstrating conspicuous leadership and diplomacy during the pandemic, stepping up to the plate as senior partner to help guide the transition from David Pester’s tenure as Managing Partner to that of John Wood.

As TLT’s joint-head of Government and Public Services, Andrew specialised in commercial property investment and asset management / transaction support for corporate clients. He also built an enviable reputation for his market-leading client work on complex transactions in public sector real estate.

Throughout his career, Andrew’s achievements have played a pivotal role in transforming TLT from a regional firm to a nationwide leader. Andrew became the first Southwest-based chairman of the Association of Property and Fixed Charge Receivers (NARA) and is also current President of Bristol based Charity the Guild of Guardians. His leadership as head of real estate, and joint head of government and public services, has been instrumental in expanding the firm’s reach and establishing its reputation in the legal sector.

Beyond his technical excellence, Andrew has championed initiatives promoting diversity, equity, inclusion, and sustainability. His efforts helped TLT rank among The Times Top 50 Employers for Gender Equality, win the Lloyds Banks Sustainable Business of the Year Award and supported delivering TLT’s ambitious plan to achieve 33% female partnership representation – two years ahead of target. In his role as senior partner, Andrew supported the development and deployment of TLT World – the firm’s award-winning flexible approach to working – spearheaded by his knowledge and understanding of the legal sector, which was instrumental to the success of the scheme. Andrew was also chair of the firm’s Promotions Committee, Remuneration Committe and Responsible Business Committee.

Andrew’s commitment to the legal and local community extends far beyond his work at TLT. He has held prominent roles in organisations such as the Association of Property and Fixed Charge Receivers and the Bristol Guild of Guardians, showcasing his dedication to both the profession and his city. His mentorship through initiatives like TLT’s Aspire scheme has paved the way for diverse talent to thrive in non-traditional legal roles, leaving a legacy of inclusivity and innovation.

Maria Connolly, Head of Real Estate and Future Energy at TLT said: “Having worked with Andrew for over 27 years from the very early days of being a trainee in his team through to the honour of taking over from him as head of real estate when he was appointed senior partner, Andrew is one of the most respected individuals in the Bristol real estate market. His approach to complex technical issues, leadership and insights is outstanding. Andrew will be missed at TLT, but we wish him a very well-deserved retirement.”

John Wood, Managing Partner at TLT commented: “Andrew has been an essential part of TLT’s success over the years. We would not be the business we are today without his unwavering dedication to creating a firm of opportunity where people are valued for who they are and his unrivalled expertise in real estate and the public sector. Andrew has mentored many colleagues across the firm and his legacy will be remembered for a very long time to come. Wishing Andrew all the best in his retirement.”
