Milsted Langdon are delighted to share the news that Forensic Partner, Roger Isaacs, has been named Practice Leader of the Year at the Accounting Excellence Awards for his outstanding role in helping more than 500 subpostmasters and subpostmistresses secure compensation following the Post Office Horizon IT scandal.
This award is the most prestigious recognition in the Accountants profession and the firm are incredibly proud that Roger’s work – and the work of the team he has built – has been recognised on such a national stage. Together, they have secured millions of pounds of compensation for those affected.
To support the subpostmasters, Roger recruited and led a team of 20 experienced forensic analysts who have worked exclusively on Horizon IT compensation cases.
Collaborating with the law firms driving the claims, the team has played a vital part in achieving financial redress for so many people whose lives were changed by the scandal.
The judging panel explained their choice by saying: “This is an individual who led in a way that can demonstrate meaningful impact to a group of people who were wronged. This isn’t just accounting, it is life-changing, justice-providing work.”
Roger is not only a highly regarded forensic accountant and expert witness, but also the National Technical Director of the Network of Independent Forensic Accountants (NIFA).
Alongside his work on the Horizon IT scandal, he regularly provides expert testimony in courts and tribunals across the UK and internationally and is a respected commentator and lecturer on topics such as business valuation, strategic planning and directors’ duties.
His leadership extends beyond our firm. As former Chair of the international accountancy network MGI Worldwide, Roger introduced a Shadow Youth Board that has given the next generation of accountants a stronger voice within the profession. This is an initiative that also contributed to the recognition he has now received.
Reflecting on his award win, Roger said: “Being chosen as the winner of this incredible accolade is really gratifying and is well-deserved recognition of my wonderful team.
“Supporting the subpostmasters and subpostmistresses has been a highlight of my career and I have felt exceptionally fortunate to have played a part in helping so many people achieve the best possible financial redress, albeit recognising that nothing could ever fully compensate those worst affected by the Horizon scandal.
“I would like to thank everyone at the Accounting Excellence Awards for raising the profile of our firm’s recent work and sharing our success with the rest of the profession.”
He also stressed that this award reflects not only his leadership, but the dedication and tenacity of the forensic team here at Milsted Langdon: “I can’t say enough how impressed I have been with the team’s amazing efforts in getting the best outcomes for our clients.”
The award was presented at a spectacular ceremony on 30 September at The Roundhouse in London and we are proud that Roger and our forensic team’s work has been highlighted as some of the most impactful within the accounting profession.
